dtSearch Case Study — American Technology Services, Inc.

ATS Employs dtSearch Web with Spider for Regulatory Information Site

“We relied primarily on dtSearch’s built-in Web spidering capabilities in developing this portal for our customer.”
American Technology Services, Inc. (ATS) is a full-service IT consulting firm serving organizations throughout the United States and Europe from its headquarters in the Washington, DC area. Founded in 1994, the firm has broad experience in network consulting, software development, web site design, development and hosting, and web-related technologies.

ATS works with a state regulatory board association that provides its members with resources, continuing education and best practices in the administration of the regulatory agencies with whom the boards deal. The association represents boards covering the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and four U.S. territories.

“We targeted the spider to index data on a number of remote Web sites. The process was seamless.”
The association approached ATS to provide online searchable information to its members on state licensing information. They wished to provide a one-stop web access point for gathering licensing data from across the country. The licensing data in which they were interesting in accessing resides on a number of different Web sites, each under the control of a different state licensing board.

To unify the data into one searchable portal, ATS implemented the dtSearch Spider to spider and index data residing at all relevant state licensing sites. ATS then customized dtSearch Web to make the data searchable from a unified interface that ATS developed for the regulatory association. Explained James Sun, ATS Vice President, on his choice of dtSearch Web with Spider for this project: “We relied primarily on dtSearch’s built-in Web spidering capabilities in developing this portal for our customer. We targeted the spider to index data on a number of remote Web sites. The process was seamless.”

ATS has undertaken a number of dtSearch-related projects for its customers, and has broad experience with dtSearch developer technologies. ATS also provides hosting services for many dtSearch Web-running sites.
