DataStarDataStar™ from Phasic Systems Inc. (PSI) is a data unification system that produces and maintains visible, accurate corporate data for governance, executive decision making, Business Intelligence (BI), application processing, data operations, and regulatory reporting. A Rich Internet Application, DataStar enables teams to work together to build, review, and maintain all the designs, rules, and semantics necessary to continuously produce unified data that results in a true enterprise critical asset.

DataStar includes integrated modules for key architecture specifications and models. It performs semantic unification on disparate data sources into Authoritative Data Stores (ADS). The application then creates reports and business intelligence analyses on the unified data, and provides data services in a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) to develop small footprint data-rich applications.

For semantic analysis, DataStar includes KORS, the company’s next-generation semantic technology. KORS ties DataStar’s architecture to data transformation and integration, allowing multiple data sources to be semantically mapped to a common data model. The resulting system allows sophisticated conditional logic, string manipulations, and mathematical functions to be created, tested, and managed in a few lines of tabular entries.

For text search and retrieval, DataStar embeds the dtSearch Engine. “We use the dtSearch Engine for searching metadata and full-text data associated with our ontologies,” explains Dr. Geoffrey Malafsky, CEO, of Phasic Systems Inc. “We also use the dtSearch Engine in our backend semantic alignment of very large databases – typically terabytes – of data. Also, we use the dtSearch Engine on the front-end to search those terabytes of semantically aligned data. In this way, we do away with the database server, and instead use dtSearch directly with our own analysis algorithms.”
