DEVCOR was founded in 1981 by three naval officers who saw a future in the emergence of the personal computer. Today, DEVCOR maintains a large staff with extensive experience in multi-media, CD, embedded systems, networking, and massive databases, and works with a broad range of industries. DEVCOR was recently acquired by General Dynamics.

When DEVCOR was tasked to develop an automotive information delivery system on CD, DEVCOR looked at a number of text retrieval products to enable searching of this database. DEVCOR eventually settled on the dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine. One of the primary considerations for DEVCOR was text search speed.

The dtSearch Engine "worked fast," according to Barry Prochaska, Vice President of DEVCOR. Mr. Prochaska also liked the fact that the dtSearch Engine included "highly effective on-the-fly searching." Mr. Prochaska also commented that dtSearch Corp. was "friendly and cooperative," and had "excellent technical support."
