With
over 300 web
sites using the
Titan CMS/Portal
Enterprise Content
Management System
(Titan CMS),
Northwoods Software
Development,
Inc. can boast
an impressive
list of satisfied
customers. Northwoods
however does
not stand on
its laurels.

Founder and President Pat Bieser states, “In
this very competitive economy we need to continue to
provide innovative solutions to our customers, while
maintaining a high level of service.”
The Titan
Document Management System (Titan DMS), an add-on to
the Titan CMS suite is doing just that. Titan DMS offers
a wide range of features that allows its users to organize,
classify and secure their documents and other digital
assets. Titan DMS users can securely publish their
managed document and digital assets to their website. |
In
this very
competitive
economy
we need
to continue
to provide
innovative
solutions
to our
customers,
while maintaining
a high
level of
service.

“When
Northwoods
decided to
add a full-text
and field level
searching to
the Titan DMS
Library, the
technical team
chose dtSearch. “One
of the key
features in
this decision
was dtSearch's
ability to
simultaneously
spider and
index databases
and directory
files. dtSearch
lightening
fast retrieval
engine was
another.”
Titan DMS
information
is stored in
a Microsoft-SQL
database. This
information
includes: (and
is not limited
to)
| 1. |
Document
type for
many common
documents
such as
Adobe Acrobat,
Microsoft
Word and
Macromedia
Flash Presentation. |
| 2. |
Physical
location
of the
actual
document
in the
file system. |
| 3. |
Document
level security
classifications
(who can
view the
document— especially
common
on Intranet
and Extranet
sites) |
| 4. |
Other
user defined
classification. |
Using
Microsoft C#
programming
language, Northwoods
staff has developed
secure custom
web services
and components
that spider
the Titan DMS
database records
and the associated
files, indexes
them and display
the results
based on a
user defined
search screen
(figure 1).
All results
are returned
as XML. This
solution give
Northwoods
the flexibility
to handle a
myriad of unique
customer specification
in terms of
how they want
to classify,
store and display
their documents
in Titan DMS.
“So
far Northwoods’ customers
have been impressed
with the new
features added
to Titan DMS.
As Northwoods
continues to
expand it service
offerings and
software solutions,
we will look
to dtSearch
to continue
to meet and
exceed expectations.”
