Golden
Visions Consulting, LLC, developed a diagnostic
system that aids medical personnel in diagnosing
diseases and building medical case studies. The
user interface seamlessly guides medical personnel
in entering a variety of full-text and fielded
data search criteria. The most important entry
is, of course, observed symptoms, such as fever.
After querying an SQL database, the system comes
back with a list of possible diagnoses. All returns
include medically specialized rankings, so that
the most medically probable result will come back
first, followed by the second most probable choice,
etc. For example, if flu was a more probable diagnosis
than chicken pox, flu would come up as the first
entry.

Golden
Visions delivered this system both as a Web-based
service and as an offline CD-based application.
Both delivery methods use the same database-backed
search and page generation code. And both delivery
methods use the dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine.

speed was very quick. The dtSearch Engine indexed
all of our documents in a couple of minutes for
one of our databases.”
