Services, Inc. Enlists dtSearch for US Government Technical
Training Website and CDs |
We
promised the client an enhanced search tool
for the Web, as well as one that could also
work with a CD version of their product. For
both, we chose dtSearch.

Founded in 1988, Remtech Services, Inc.
(RSI) is a nationwide services company that successfully
graduated from the SBA's 8(a) and small business
programs. Remtech operates as a subsidiary of
CIBER, Inc. RSI has 600 employees working in 42
states throughout the United States. RSI's primary
customer is the federal government.
A US Government Agency operating
in the health arena tasked RSI to develop a custom
web-based training site. Two years in development,
the site involved roughly 1900 screens, digital
video clips, extensive narration, and an extensive
online help. Consistent with Government requirements,
the site was also Section 508 compliant. The US
Government Agency also tasked RSI to repackage
the same training course for delivery on CD, including
an initial 10,000 unit order and 10,000 unit follow-up
order.

We
wanted a development product that had a customizable
interface that would fit with our custom interface.
We also wanted to permit the user flexibility
in selecting content to search and in outputting
search results.

For enhanced searching of Web-based content, and
for use on the CDs, RSI chose the dtSearch Text
Retrieval Engine. “We promised the client
an enhanced search tool for the Web, as well as
one that could also work with a CD version of their
product,” said Dr. Robert L. Baxter Jr., Vice
President, at RSI. “For both, we chose dtSearch.”
Dr. Baxter also liked the flexibility of the dtSearch
Text Retrieval Engine, both in terms of RSI's own
development work and in providing customizable result
output for end-users. “We wanted a development
product that had a customizable interface that would
fit with our custom interface. We also wanted to
permit the user flexibility in selecting content
to search and in outputting search results.”
RSI development experience includes instructional
gaming, electronic performance support systems,
computer-based training, web-based training, and
platform instruction. Its customers include: FEMA,
National Fire Academy, Emergency Management Institute,
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, US
Navy, US Army, FAA, and National War Gaming &
Simulation Center.
