Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Sitecore
is Europe's fastest growing content management system,
currently serving up over 1 million dynamic web
pages. Sitecore is based on an open architecture
and standard programming languages as recommended
by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It is also
one of the very first CMS systems to fully embrace
Microsoft's .NET. At the Independent Software Vendor
(ISV) conference in September 2004, Microsoft gave
Sitecore its ISV Partner of the Year award.

The Sitecore product line includes three basic
sets of architectural components. The first is
Sitecore Content Manager, a fully scaleable solution
for site maintenance. Sitecore Content Manager
includes easy-to-use features such as a WYSIWYG
text editor, content marking tools, multi-language
support, and custom metadata profiling.
|
dtSearch
also supports extranet and intranet
security models, supports META
tags to categorize and refine search results,
and includes the dtSearch Spider for cross
site searching.
|
|
The second set of architectural components resides
in a product called Sitecore Developer. A complete
design-to-launch suite, Sitecore Developer functions
as an open-standards tool, allowing development
access for publishing websites, extranets, intranets
and other browser-based applications. Sitecore Developer
supports all standard programming languages recommended
by the World Wide Web Consortium.
Like Sitecore Manager, Sitecore Developer is fully
scaleable to any size data requirements. Sitecore
offers support for all of the features of Content
Manager, in a developer format fully compatible
with .NET. Other features include: dynamic page
assembly; open architecture support for SQL, Oracle,
DB2, and all other leading databases; support for
transferable XML objects; and caching in memory
up to 100 times faster than traditional database
systems.
The third set of architectural components is Sitecore's
add-on modules. The modules take advantage of Sitecore's
XML-based architecture to extend the Sitecore functionality
in a variety of ways. One such add-on module is
based on dtSearch.
"dtSearch compliments our product," says
James Derry, Marketing Director, Sitecore A/S. "dtSearch
provides developers with tools such as drag and
drop search functionality and broken link checking,
while the site users enjoy features that improve
their browsing experience." In addition to
drag and drop search functionality, according to
Sitecore's Web site, Sitecore also relies on the
fact that dtSearch "supports extranet and intranet
security models," supports "META tags
to categorize and refine search results," and
includes the dtSearch Spider for "cross site
searching."
dtSearch Corp. is very pleased to work with Sitecore
directly and through its UK distributor, www.dtsearch.co.uk.
