Contegra Enhances New York State Defenders Association’s Public Defense Case
Management System with Custom dtSearch Engine Implementation

Bethesda, Maryland, July 11, 2017 — dtSearch specializes in enterprise and developer text retrieval and document filters. Contegra Systems is a leading third-party expert in dtSearch Engine custom development work. Together the companies announce the completion of Contegra’s project using the dtSearch Engine to improve searching across terabytes of case management data and generally to enhance case management efficiency for the New York State Defenders Association (NYSDA) Public Defense Case Management System (PDCMS).

A not-for-profit membership organization, NYSDA has been providing support to New York's public defense community since 1967. Its mission is to improve the quality and scope of publicly supported legal representation to low income people. Over 70 public defense offices across New York State, use NYSDA’s PDCMS to manage cases and serve clients more effectively.

“Effective searching is an integral part of the case research and document management,” states Rob Wiesenberg, President, Contegra Systems. To upgrade searching across the PDCMS, NYSDA chose Contegra and the dtSearch Engine. “We are extremely satisfied with Contegra’s services. From the initial project analysis to final implementation, Contegra was exceedingly responsive and knowledgeable,” says Charlie O’Brien, NYSDA Executive Director. “We welcome the opportunity to share our expertise with NYSDA and support its mission to improve public legal defense services,” adds Mr. Wiesenberg. “Contegra used the dtSearch Engine’s Java interface for instant searching of both PDCMS metadata and documents across the system.”

dtSearch’s main developer component, the dtSearch Engine, has 64-bit and 32-bit Java, .NET and C++ APIs, with SDKs for Linux, Windows and UWP, with Mac and Android in beta. The dtSearch Engine instantly searches terabytes of text including over 25 full-text and metadata-driven search options. dtSearch’s proprietary document filters support a wide range of online and offline data covering numerous document types, emails plus nested attachments, website data and other databases.
