The Smart Choice for Text Retrieval® since 1991

Epi-Search, a free academic resource, lets researchers enter up to 10,000 words and, using dtSearch, find “more like this.”

Epi-Search provides no-charge search access to the Institute for the Study of Coherence and Emergence (ISCE) library. Contegra Systems performed the dtSearch Engine integration, leveraging the library’s SQL metadata along with the original book text to find conceptually similar items. "We then invoke the dtSearch Engine to query for ‘more like this’ across the library’s SQL metadata and the full-text of the books themselves. The dtSearch Engine already offers natural language vector-space analysis, including an option for differential ranking of SQL metadata versus full-text content, so this part was easy.” Learn More

FultonHistory.com’s online newspaper archive uses dtSearch to let visitors explore newspapers going back to the 18th Century.

With the new installation, Fulton History visitors can not only instantly search 34 million newspaper pages, but also automatically hone in on the exact place on the PDF newspaper image that contains the search term. “With about a million visitors a month to FultonHistory.com, it is critical that the site runs smoothly. Adding Contegra’s highlighter to dtSearch makes the whole user experience run that much more seamlessly.” Learn More

Middle English meets dtSearch.

In circulation prior to Chaucer, the National Library of Scotland’s Auchinleck Manuscript contains a large collection of Middle English text. The project uses dtSearch “to search transcriptions of the entire Auchinleck Manuscript.” Of course, there is a caveat about Modern English vs. Middle English: “be warned, as dtSearch has been designed for use with Modern English, only Modern English forms will be found.
