GetData Debuts Forensic Explorer Embedding dtSearch

“GetData’s new offering supports data recovery and file carving, which is a process to extract data out of undifferentiated blocks or raw data.”

“dtSearch full-text searching across files, emails, etc., ensure that, if there is a ‘smoking gun,’ our users will find it.”
GetData Forensics has announced the release of its computer forensics analysis software, Forensic Explorer.  Already known in the computer forensics community for such tools as Mount Image Pro and Recover My Files, for GetData, a forensic analysis application was a natural progression.

Forensic Explorer | Advanced Forensics Software With an easy-to-use interface and a strong feature set, Forensic Explorer offers investigators a powerful alternative to current industry products.  Forensic Explorer supports more than 300 file types; analyzes common forensic image formats like Ex01, Lx01 and AD1 image files; and works with FAT, NTFS, HFS and EXT file systems.

“GetData’s new offering supports data recovery and file carving, which is a process to extract data out of undifferentiated blocks or raw data,” explains Law Technology News, which also made Forensic Explorer its “product of the week.“  Forensic Explorer “can categorize and filter files, provide hash and signature analysis, open and analyze Outlook .pst files, and interrogate slack space and unallocated file clusters,” adds Law Technology News.

Forensic Explorer comes with a comprehensive library of scripts, including options like GPS co-ordinate extraction.  The product also offers multiple features for working with data, including modules for file system analysis, email analysis, registry files, bookmarking, and automated reporting.  Forensic Explorer includes a strong scripting platform, and the user can customize many aspects of the program's presentation.

For indexed searching, Forensic Explorer embeds the dtSearch Engine for Windows.  “We used the dtSearch Engine for advanced keyword indexed searching. dtSearch full-text searching across files, emails, etc., ensure that, if there is a ‘smoking gun,’ our users will find it.”
